Visiting Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru was a really nice experience. The building looks grand with its special South Indian-style design, beautiful stone walls, and big dome. It stands right in the middle of the city and looks very impressive even from outside. The gardens around it are clean and well-kept, and at night, the building lights up beautifully—especially on Sundays and public holidays. It’s a great place to take photos or enjoy a quiet walk. People are usually not allowed to go inside, but the outside view and its history make it worth visiting. If you’re in Bengaluru, do visit this place and spend at least 30 to 60 minutes to enjoy the view and surroundings.

Vidhana Soudha, located in the heart of Bengaluru, Karnataka, is one of the most magnificent and iconic government buildings in India. Serving as the seat of the Karnataka State Legislature, this grand structure is a symbol of the city’s political, cultural, and architectural pride. Built between 1951 and 1956 under the leadership of Kengal Hanumanthaiah, Vidhana Soudha represents a perfect blend of Dravidian, Rajasthani, and Indo-Saracenic architectural styles. The first thing that captures your attention is its majestic appearance. Built entirely out of granite, the building stands tall at around 150 feet, with an impressive central dome and beautifully carved pillars and arches. The inscription on the front — “Government’s Work is God’s Work” — reflects the noble ideals behind its creation. The massive staircase leading up to the entrance adds to its grandeur, making it one of the most photographed landmarks in Bengaluru. At night, when the entire building is illuminated, it becomes a breathtaking sight. The golden glow of lights highlights every detail of its architecture, drawing both locals and tourists to admire its beauty. The area around Vidhana Soudha, especially the Cubbon Park and the High Court building nearby, adds to the charm and historical significance of the place. Although the interiors are not open to the general public every day, visitors can still enjoy the view from outside and capture memorable photos. Security is tight since it’s a functioning government building, but the surroundings are clean and well-maintained. In short, Vidhana Soudha is not just an administrative center — it’s a proud symbol of Karnataka’s heritage, democracy, and progress. Anyone visiting Bengaluru should not miss this grand monument, which perfectly combines political importance with architectural brilliance.

Firstly, sincere thanks to U. T. Khader for giving the general public a valuable opportunity to visit the Vidhana Soudha. It’s a commendable initiative to promote civic awareness and transparency. However, we were quite disappointed with a key aspect of the experience. We had specifically booked a Kannada-language slot, expecting the guide to conduct the tour in Kannada. Unfortunately, the lady guide assigned to us initially did not know Kannada and instead requested us to "adjust." If we were willing to adjust, we would have simply booked the English slot in the first place. This left us wondering—are we really in Karnataka, or somewhere else? It’s disheartening that a Kannada-speaking group cannot expect a Kannada guide in the heart of Karnataka’s government building. Later on, another guide was able to manage both the English and Kannada groups, for which we’re thankful. But the initial experience left us disappointed and concerned about the respect given to the state language in such an important institution. We hope future arrangements ensure that language-specific bookings are honored properly, especially when it comes to Kannada in Karnataka.
