a month agoBEST PLACE IN HYDERABAD. I lobe museums and this one is my favourite museums of all. While the clock, lady in veil are the crowd favorites, i personally loved their European Art section. I didn't want to leave that place at all. Timings are a bit strict. One day is not enough to even rush through the entire museum. It's massive. Take at least 2 days and plenty of rest and plenty of water with you. Looking forward to visiting again. Note: it's a crowded place but you won't have trouble as the place is huge. European section is in the corner of top floor so no one will bother you while you spend hours acknowledging the beauty of it. Ivory section is also must not miss

3 weeks agoThe Salar Jung Museum is in Hyderabad. It is on the bank of the Musi River in very large infrastructure.Ticket is Rs. 50 and if you want to take phone with you have to take a ticket for mobile phone also. It is a very large museum, you should have at least a whole day to visit. Many restaurants and food courts are also there. All facilities are available there. Every exhibition hall is unique and categories. Very pleasant experience on visit.

a month agoIf ur a museum lover, this one will easily take u atleast half a day. There's all kinds of antique stuff, n in hundreds. Ticket price feels dirt cheap once u see the displays inside. Remember to be at the central gallery to witness the iconic pendulum clock. It puts up a show every hour. The noon strikes r highly recommended!

a week agoSalar Jung Museum has an impressive collection and is worth visiting once, especially if you enjoy history and art. The highlights for me were the Veiled Rebecca sculpture, the musical clock (plan your visit around noon), and the Eastern galleries, which are truly remarkable. Plan to spend around 2–3 hours exploring the museum. That said, the overall experience could be much better. Most galleries are not air-conditioned, the lighting is poor in several sections, and many exhibit descriptions and title boards feel outdated and need an upgrade. With better maintenance and presentation, this museum could offer a far more engaging visitor experience.

3 weeks agoI visited the Salar Jung Museum mainly because of a childhood memory. I remember studying about the museum in my Telugu textbook during my school days. At that time, visiting it felt unlikely since Hyderabad was far from my hometown. Now that I’m living in Hyderabad, I decided to fulfill that childhood wish, and I’m glad I did. The museum is quite large, spread across two floors with more than 40 galleries and rooms. It houses a vast collection of artifacts from different periods, including items from the Nizam era and even earlier centuries. Visitors can see historical cups, plates, furniture, clocks, sculptures, paintings, weapons, armor, swords, and various household items used by rulers and nobles. There are also several ancient Hindu deity idols and exhibits related to soldiers and military equipment from past centuries. The museum is well maintained, spacious, and organized. However, unless you have a strong interest in history, antiques, or art collections, many exhibits may start to feel repetitive after a while. Personally, while I appreciated the historical significance and enjoyed fulfilling a childhood dream, I did not find most of the displays particularly engaging. Overall, I would recommend visiting at least once, especially if you enjoy history or have a personal connection to the museum. For me, the highlight was not the exhibits themselves but finally completing something I had wanted to do since childhood. Best part: Fulfilling a childhood wish and experiencing one of Hyderabad’s most famous museums. Worth visiting? May be not. You can spend this time worth at any other place.
