Chowmahalla Palace is absolutely breathtaking and very well-maintained. The entry fee is INR 200 (INR 150 + 50) with mobile photography. You will feel like stepping back in time once you enter. The garden is absolutely mind-blowing and you won't be able to stop clicking photos. The spectacular greenery, the well-manicured flowers along with the fountains and water bodies make for peaceful walks amidst nature's lap. The interiors are equally gorgeous. The Durbar Hall is stunning. The chandeliers take your breath away. However, renovation work was going on when I visited. The room with weapons and the one with cutlery and crockery from the Nizam era are also impressive. One of the rooms is filled with personal photos of the Nizam where you learn a lot about his life, works and education. There's a vintage car collection as well, adding to the attractions. There's a museum shop too from where you can buy souvenirs. Overall, this is a must-visit if you are interested in history, culture and architecture and the perfect place to spend a few hours with your family and friends on a weekend.

Chowmahalla Palace is one of Hyderabad's most magnificent heritage monuments and was the official residence of the Nizams of Hyderabad. Construction began in the 18th century during the reign of Nizam Salabat Jung and the palace complex was developed over several decades. The name Chowmahalla means “Four Palaces.” The complex is famous for its grand courtyards, Khilwat Mubarak (Durbar Hall), royal rooms, fountains, gardens, vintage cars, chandeliers and the distinctive blend of Persian, Indo-Islamic, European and Rajasthani architectural styles. Entry Ticket 🇮🇳 Indian visitors: approximately ₹100 🌍 Foreign visitors: approximately ₹400 📷 Photography/video may have separate charges. 🎟️ Rates are subject to change. Timings 🕙 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM Closed: Friday Best Time: Morning or late afternoon. How to Reach From Charminar: 📍 Approximately 1 km 🚶 10–15 minutes walk / 5 minutes by auto. From Hyderabad Railway Station (Nampally): 📍 Approximately 5 km 🚗 15–25 minutes by auto/cab. From Hyderabad Airport: 📍 Approximately 20 km 🚗 40–60 minutes, depending on traffic. Time Required ⏱️ 1.5–2.5 hours

I have been to Hyderabad a couple of times before but never had to chance to visit this place. Its something! From the Persian Iranian style architecture to all the other amazing Arti facts it host. The whole palace is quite big and to enjoy it properly, you need atleast 2 hours. There is a souvenir and refreshments shop inside and considering the size, it’s good idea to carry water, even though there is a a dedicated spot near the entrance for drinking water. The vintage cars and buggy collection is a good look at how the ultra rich of that time moved in swag

I visited the Chowmahalla Palace to learn more about the history of the Nizams who once ruled Hyderabad. The palace complex is quite large, consisting of multiple mahals (palaces), courtyards, and open spaces. Inside, visitors can find numerous photographs of the Nizam rulers and their families, along with displays of historical weapons, guns, swords, royal furniture, and other artifacts from that era. While these exhibits may be fascinating for history enthusiasts, I personally did not find them particularly engaging. The palace grounds require a fair amount of walking between different sections and buildings. Although the structures are large and historically significant, I felt they lacked the charm and architectural beauty that I have seen or imagined in some other South Indian palaces. One moment that stood out to me was standing on a palace balcony overlooking a pond. It made me imagine how peaceful it must have been centuries ago—watching the moonlight reflect on the water while rulers and nobles lived within these walls. That feeling of stepping back into history was more memorable than the exhibits themselves. Overall, Chowmahalla Palace is worth visiting once for its historical importance and to understand the legacy of the Nizams. However, if you’re not particularly interested in royal history, old photographs, or historical artifacts, you may find the experience less exciting than expected. Not worth the visit.
