If you found this place, you had a good guide! I thought it was Portuguese, but it's actually British. Black as the basaltic rock that rises from the sea, Worli Fort gives a great overview of the bay and the city. It features the classic crenelations and ramparts of the 17th century, and guards the golf from the tip of this tongue of land. The fort now is not officially maintained or "open to the public". Seems not many locals know about it, but my friend brought me here cause she heard its nice. It is accessible for explorer types, and is basically left abandoned. The fort is simply used by people in this neighborhood for storage, hang out, kids play space, and whatever not. Here we met a couple of guys from the city, they were chilling, listening to cool music, they welcomed us to chat. Some clothes left out to dry on the sides, and some barrels and stuff in the rooms below. It smells of salt, soap, garbage, fish and rats, and the breeze brings fresh air from the sea. As a first time visitor in India, I was in culture shock. Seeing everything was kind of like a dreamy, surreal landscape. So I probably romanticized it too much, for the place is a slum surrounded by a garbage dump, and people there have little chance to better their days, but they were happy, kind and curious. It was exciting to see, and I have respect.

Worli Fort offers a serene view of the Arabian Sea and Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Though the fort is small and not very well maintained, the location is scenic and perfect for a quiet sunset. A good place for photography and some quiet reflection. Best visited in the early morning or late evening. Limited parking and cleanliness could be improved. The way to the fort is a narrow lane that passes through the dirty slum houses !

Small historic fort with scenic sea views and peaceful surroundings. Hidden gem in Mumbai, less crowded. Great spot for photography and exploring local heritage. Access through narrow lanes
