Takmak Fort is an incredible experience with nature. Located about 20kms away from Virar Station, the trek is a paradise for all. The climbing difficulty is easy to moderate. A friend and I started our trek at around 7 PM (Not the best time to begin with the trek as it becomes very dark and if you stray away from the mostly straight path to reach the peak; you will be met with slopes and terrain so difficult to climb that you may want to head back down even before you reach halfway to the summit) Apart from the dangerous trek that we finished throughout the night, the actual peak and mountain are as picturesque as it gets. On one side you can see the settlements, highway, and more and on the other side you are met with more mountain formations. We were accompanied by two stray dogs on our way up, they even stayed with us on the peak overnight and then lead the way to get down of the mountain. So you will not feel alone, the local villagers are mostly Marathi speaking individuals so make sure you brush up your Marathi skills a little. Be prepared, rested, and make sure you carry all essentials as you may not find much at the base village or near by if you plan on going to Takmak Fort on low seasons.

Takak fort is a perfect choice for both beginners and experience trekkers. It offers an enriching experience for trekkers and nature enthusiasts. Nearest station- virar station. My experience. Took auto Rs 500 (one way) for 3 passengers to base village (22km). I recommend to hire taxi or bring your personal vehicle. It is hard to find taxi while going back. Local guide charge for Rs 700, so our group went by ourselves. I recommend to hire one guide if you aren't familiar with jungle trekking. Don't use Google map, you'll lost in the jungle. Carry minimum 2 ltrs of water. Follow the trials till to the point, It will take 2:30-3 hrs from vehicle drip point to the fort. No snake's no leeches, lots of small crabs. few location, the trials is along the stream. The trekking is moderate till to the mountain foothill, the stiff climbing will be challenging to so many. It is worth the climb, the view is breathtaking ✨️.

A great hike for beginners and hiker who love to walk on long green lush trails. The route can possibly be confusing but try to follow the foot mark and trail mark made with the native people walking along. It’s can be visited all season in a year as it’s not so steep and open surrounding areas. Make sure to carry enough food and water according to the need.

We trekked in monsoon by following the all trails map. It was fully muddy in the beginning your whole foot till ankle will be in mud. Not a beginner friendly trek. You will experience Scenic view, waterfall, snails, flowers, little rock patch and everything a trekker looks for in a one day hike.
