A beautiful short trek near Karjat with stunning views of Morbe Dam and surrounding hills. The trail is moderate, with a few ladders near the top, and best enjoyed in monsoon or early morning. Peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a quick nature escape. ⭐ 4.5/5

Good one. 45 min needs to reach on top. Due to ladders climbing is easy or else would be difficult.

Visited Sondai Fort on 8th June 2025 Sondai Fort is a beginner-friendly trek, although some patches can be a bit tricky. Make sure to wear proper trekking shoes with good grip. Unlike other popular spots, it’s not heavily crowded, which makes the experience more peaceful. If you’re planning to visit, it’s best to start early in the morning. There are two drinking water tanks along the route, please avoid putting your feet in them or throwing anything inside, as they are a water source. You might encounter many monkeys on the way; they are well-behaved and quite cute. You’ll also spot beautiful birds and butterflies throughout the trail. The view from the top is absolutely stunning.

Route: From Karjat station Reserve 7 seater taxi : ₹600 or Sharing ₹100 per person. They will drop u on treking point in 40 min . Track Time max 1h 30 min from one side. Track type: Easy Happy journey 😀 History : Sondai Fort, located near Karjat in Maharashtra, is a hidden gem among the lesser-known forts of the Sahyadris. Perched at a height of around 1,200 feet, it is a relatively small fort but offers big rewards in terms of scenic beauty and peaceful surroundings. The fort is named after the local deity “Sondai Devi,” whose idol is placed on the top and worshipped by villagers. The climb is not very difficult, making it an excellent choice for beginners and families who want to experience trekking without too much strain. The trek usually takes around 1 to 1.5 hours to reach the summit. Along the way, trekkers pass through rustic villages, green fields, and rocky patches that bring out the raw charm of the Sahyadri ranges. During the monsoon, the trail becomes even more enchanting with waterfalls, lush greenery, and cool breezes, making it a refreshing escape from the city’s routine. From the top, one can enjoy stunning panoramic views of nearby forts like Morbe Dam, Karnala, Prabalgad, Irshalgad, and Rajmachi, along with beautiful valleys and mountain ranges. What makes Sondai Fort special is its simplicity and serenity. Unlike crowded tourist spots, it offers a tranquil atmosphere where visitors can connect with nature, enjoy photography, and soak in the peaceful vibes. The presence of water cisterns and the small temple at the top adds cultural significance to the site. For anyone seeking a short, easy, and rewarding trek near Mumbai and Pune, Sondai Fort is truly a delightful weekend getaway.
