Sion Fort is a peaceful little escape in the middle of the city. The climb is easy and takes just a few minutes, and once you reach the top, the view of Sion and the surrounding areas is really refreshing. It’s a great spot for a quick morning or evening visit, especially if you enjoy calm places and a bit of history. The fort is simple but well maintained, and the greenery around adds to the charm. A nice place to relax, walk around, and enjoy the breeze.

Sion Fort, constructed between 1669 and 1677 during the British East India Company's rule, stands atop a hillock in Mumbai's Sion area. the fort now resides within the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyan garden, approximately 500m from Sion railway station. The fort offers atranquil ambiance amidst the bustling city. The ascent leads to panoramic views of Mumbai, including sights of oil refineries, salt pans, residential areas, the Mumbai Monorail line, and the Bandra-Kurla Complex. While the fort's structure has deteriorated over time, with broken stone steps and scattered walls overrun by vegetation, it remains a spot for relaxation and reflection. The surrounding garden is well-maintained, offering a peaceful environment where visitors can unwind, study, or enjoy leisure activities. Overall, Sion Fort provides a blend of historical significance and serene natural surroundings, making it a worthwhile visit for those interested in Mumbai's past and seeking a quiet retreat within the city. The entry is free, the fort closes at 6pm The view from over the top during Sunset is worth the hike over the top!

Good old place with a garden and a old fort at top with a nice trail of acending steps. A very beautiful view of the city from top of the fort and the old beautiful architecture of the fort/mostly what is left of it. kindly be cautious with your kids as some of the side walks and fort areas are not having hand railings and protections. Preferably plan visiting in morning and evening hours and with no down pour as the place is some what on a hill top and mostly without roof top. Plan with water and snacks at hand(No shops once you enter inside). Ps: Kindly dont litter, felt bad seeing the whole place dumped with plastic bottles and the walls and stones scribbled with rubbish.

Fort is not maintained properly, they must add ticket system to get revenue for maintenance, with metal detector security. Inside it, there is ample space and good view from top. More number of sitting benches should be installed inside, also proper sign board directing towards top portion should be made.
