3 months agoSanjay Gandhi National Park is one of the best places to experience nature without leaving Mumbai. It’s especially beautiful during the monsoon, when the entire park turns lush green with small waterfalls, natural water ponds, and flowing streams all around. The park offers an easy and enjoyable trek, and no matter where you look, you’re surrounded by greenery. Along the way, you’ll cross two beautiful bridges with water flowing beneath them, adding to the scenic charm. If you’re lucky, you can also spot deer, birds, and other wildlife in their natural habitat. One of the main attractions is the Kanheri Caves, which are well worth visiting. There is a ₹25 entry fee for the caves, in addition to the park’s main entry ticket. If you don’t want to walk the entire distance, you can take the park bus, which costs around ₹100 per person (one way) and drops you near the base of the caves. Otherwise, the 6–8 km walk is a refreshing experience, especially during the rainy season. Overall, it’s a perfect destination for nature lovers, photographers, trekkers, and families looking for a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle. A must-visit place during the monsoon!

4 months agoSanjay Gandhi National Park is a wonderful place to escape the city's hustle and reconnect with nature. The greenery, fresh air, and peaceful surroundings make it an excellent destination. If you're lucky, you may even spot wildlife such as deer, monkeys, or a variety of birds. The ancient Kanheri Buddhist Caves are an absolute must-visit and are among the park's biggest attractions. Unfortunately, the lake visit often remains closed, which can be disappointing. Really unfortunate that the government charges separately for almost everything here—parking, park entry, bus service, boating, and even the Kanheri Caves entry. None of these are particularly cheap. Mobile network coverage is poor in many parts of the park. Carry enough cash before visiting. Please do not litter, maintain silence, and respect the environment. This is not a picnic spot—it is a conserved National Park, a priceless piece of nature that deserves everyone's respect. Behave responsibly and act like a literate, respectful visitor so future generations can enjoy and appreciate this incredible place.

4 months agoYou get to see Lions and tigers so that's a good part. Also, it's AC bus so you feel comfortable. But you can't compare this to real tiger safari feel. It's a short jungle visit - great for very young kids

6 months agoI recently visited the Kanheri Caves and it was a truly memorable experience. The place is calm, peaceful, and surrounded by greenery, making it a perfect escape from city life. The ancient rock-cut caves and carvings are impressive and full of history. It’s a great spot for both nature lovers and history enthusiasts. There is quite a bit of walking involved, so wearing comfortable shoes is recommended, but the scenic views and overall vibe make it completely worth it. I would definitely recommend visiting this place, especially in the morning.

a month agoIt consists of three major attractions - Lion & Tiger safari, VanRani train and Kanheri caves. To begin with the general visiter's experience, it was good, it is a whole forest around us, it feels soothing and relaxing. But with technical aspects like ticket counter - waiting line was too long, we lost a significant time in purchasing them. It was offline only, not available online. If it would be online it could save a lot of visitor's time and efforts. Then, the person at ticket counter was rude, not giving the details asked properly. 1.Lion & Tiger safari - It was good, but lacks something. We went there at around 2 pm, and as per the drivers it was not a good time to visit those resting big cats. Though we see Tigers, Lions, and spotted deers but it was for a very short duration and not very different from a zoo! Rest there are no other animals in rest of the NP except red faced monkeys, crows and dogs. It costed 150 per person through bus which was the only option to see those 2 big cats. Despite pictures no leopard was found inside. 2.Vanrani train - it was good. We viewed few pockets of NP through it. It was for about 15-20 minutes with few deers spotted once in the beginning. 3.Kanheri caves - it was the best part. Though we could view upto cave 10 only this time, those rock-cut architecture are historic, few of them very large and the view of forest from the top was mesmerising. But it closes at 5pm due to fear of wild animals, hence we have to go back in between. It could be reached through walk(very long), bus, e-baggies, and cycles(if available, not available when we asked). There were QR codes to scan and have a audio guide experience but no network! Then it was as good as nothing. A proper guide could enhance the understanding of the historic place. It is a good place for nature enthusiasts but could be significantly improved. Maintain a good website to convey important information, digitisation of tickets and more time for safaris. One good aspect was ban on plastics and related producty to be sold inside it, but its effectiveness reduces due to allowing outside food in it. I think no outside food should be allowed, this would help maintain the health of local ecosystem. I hope this post could help those visiting SGNP, but nothing could replace need for authentic information dissemination which I strongly suggest concerned authorities should do.
