Sanjay Gandhi National Park is honestly one of Mumbai’s biggest blessings — a massive green forest sitting right inside a crowded metro city. The moment you enter from the Borivali gate, the temperature drops, traffic noise disappears, and you actually feel like you’ve stepped out of Mumbai. The park is extremely well suited for long walks, cycling and slow exploration rather than rushing through it. The highlight is the Kanheri Caves trek/ride, which combines light adventure with history and great viewpoints. The roads inside are clean and wide, making it comfortable even for families and kids. Early mornings are the best time as you can spot monkeys, birds and sometimes deer along the road. The lion & tiger safari is short but enjoyable, especially for first-time visitors. Food stalls and washrooms are basic but adequate; the park focuses more on nature than commercialization. Weekends get crowded near the entrance, but once you go deeper inside, the place becomes peaceful again. Overall, SGNP is less of a tourist attraction and more of a breathing space — perfect for detoxing from city chaos, casual fitness activities, and relaxed weekend mornings. One of the rare places in Mumbai where you actually feel nature instead of just seeing it.

Huge National Park,so many types of animals are visible but you need to take a bus or Bicycle to see whole park. Don’t try to walk and cover whole park you will drained very soon. For bicycles you have pay 80 Rupees extra and for buses I think you have to pay 140 rupees extra per person. It’s kind of business but it worth coz you will able to see many thighs while in the bus. I had a great chance to see leopards 5 years ago,but not this time 😁😂 Good for morning walk and children’s as they have huge place for children’s. Some food stalls.

Decent park. Great place to walk, run, cycle or just spend time with family. I personally think that entrance fee is high given the fact that you need to pay again for things/places when you enter the park. For cycling, you can get a rented cycle (single speed/gear) both inside the park and outside the park. The one inside the park is decent enough, 80Rs for 2 hours BUT they need physical copy of any GOVERNMENT ID. They also only accept cash. So keep that in mind. Overall great park. Very peaceful. Would definitely recommend!

Was a wonderful, refreshing experience at Sanjay Gandhi National park. We rented bikes from private sellers outside, but one could rent government bikes inside the park too. You just need to buy a ticket for yourself and your bike (rs44). We cycled up to Kanheri caves, which closes at 5:30pm atleast on Sunday. So start your journey accordingly. It's 7km from the entrance gate till the cave. Near the cave is all core forest area so best to travel in groups or come down before it gets dark! Rest the park is beautiful. I will come next time for the safari and to see the enclosures. Do check out the cool stuff in their souvenir shop as well.

Peaceful and refreshing environment. I visited in Feb. Entry gate to Kanheri caves is 6km. Tickets for Kanheri caves are available at the entry point of Kanheri Caves. Tickets for bus or EV pickup, drop or both have to be purchased at entry gate only. Cycles can be rented from entry gate at nominal rates. Milestones are put up at every half kilometre. Carry reusable bottles - spots to refill water are available at short distances. Vendors for light snacks such as fruits, chana chat etc. are available at 2 spots - one in the beginning of the 6km trek and one at the end. There was one reservoir inside others had dried up. People carrying phones or wearing glasses need to beware of monkeys- however, they mind their own business unless poked. Avoid feeding any wild animals and throwing any garbage - carry it back in your bag or throw in the dustbins. Here’s a list of Things to Carry for the Trek 🎒🗒️ (Prepared people = happier trekkers!) 1️⃣ A small trekking backpack – light bag, happy legs 2️⃣ Enough water for 4 hours 💧 3️⃣ Your personal medication, if any 4️⃣ Caps / hats / sunglasses 🧢🕶️ — the sun might be in full form 5️⃣ Hand towel – sweat happens 😅 6️⃣ Comfortable clothing & sports/trekking shoes 👟 – comfort > fashion (mostly!) 7️⃣ Have light snacks before you arrive 🍌🥪
