Malabar Hill Forest Trail is a lovely green escape right in the heart of the city. The trail is about 750 meters long, making it a short but refreshing walk surrounded by trees and birdsong. The path is slightly slopy in parts, so wearing comfortable shoes definitely helps, but it’s manageable for most people. It’s wonderful to see such a well-maintained green initiative being developed in an urban area like this

Malabar Hill Elevated Nature Trail is a serene and stunning refuge right in the heart of Mumbai. A beautifully elevated wooden walkway stretches about 485 m, winding through lush greenery and showcasing over 100 native tree species like Gulmohar, Jamun, Banyan, and more . As you stroll, you may spot kingfishers, parakeets, bulbuls, lizards, and even pythons in their natural habitat . The highlight: a sea-viewing platform offering panoramic views of Girgaon Chowpatty and the Arabian Sea . It’s open daily from 5 AM to 8 or 9 PM, with entry capped at 200 visitors per one-hour slot to ensure a peaceful experience. Tickets can be booked online in advance—₹25 for Indian citizens, ₹100 for foreign nationals . Well‑lit, eco‑friendly, and ideal for peaceful morning or sunset walks. A true urban oasis worth exploring!

Lush green wooden walkway in the urban concrete landscape. Good view admist trees of the Girgaum chowpaty. Queens Necklace. The view is better from Hanging garden though. During summer best time to visit is in the evening after 4pm. 1 Hr slots are available for this trail starting at 5am in the morning till 9pm evening. If you are planning to visit over the weekend pre-book the slot online. If you are travelling from far of distance to visit this place you may get disappointment due to short trail walk. The entire area is under CCTV surveillance and there are speakers installed on the walk way. Security guards call back the group who went in on a particular slot for making room to the other slot people waiting in the queue outside. During entry and exit the guards scan the booking QR code for each person. If you are the last one to go in or come out, do remember to get the phone from the guard.Eating and throwing trash down the trail is strict No as you are constantly monitored. There are names of the trees, birds found or seen on the trail.

Malabar Hill is a beautiful spot surrounded by nature, offering a peaceful and relaxing vibe. It’s a great place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. I’ve visited this place several times before and have always appreciated its calm atmosphere and natural beauty. Recently, the property has undergone renovations and there have been a few noticeable changes. While it’s clear that efforts have been made to improve the space. I personally didn’t feel that the upgrades justified the new higher entry fee. Some areas look refreshed but the overall experience felt quite similar to what it used to be before the renovation. If you’re visiting for the first time, you’ll likely enjoy the quiet surroundings and greenery. It’s a nice place for nature lovers, families or anyone looking to spend a peaceful day outdoors. However, for returning visitors who have seen Malabar Hill in its earlier form the changes might not feel significant enough to warrant the increased cost. Overall, it’s still a lovely place to visit but I’d recommend setting expectations accordingly. especially if you’ve been there before and are expecting something dramatically different.

The Malabar Hill Forest Trail is a nice initiative by the BMC, offering a peaceful patch of greenery amidst the city. It’s definitely a good effort to bring people closer to nature and provide a small escape from the usual hustle. That said, even though it’s called a forest trail, it doesn’t quite feel like one. After just a couple of trees, you can already spot nearby buildings and car parks — so calling it a forest trail feels a bit overhyped, especially compared to what’s shown on social media. It’s more of a short urban walkway surrounded by green cover rather than an actual forest experience. Also, a humble request to all citizens — please don’t litter. I noticed quite a bit of garbage thrown around, which really takes away from the beauty of the place. It’s a lovely initiative, and it’s up to us to keep it clean and enjoyable for everyone.
