The Lotus Temple is an architectural marvel and a symbol of unity and tranquility, located in New Delhi, India. Completed in 1986, this magnificent structure serves as the Mother Temple of the Indian subcontinent for the Bahá’í Faith, welcoming people of all religions and backgrounds to pray, meditate, and reflect in its serene surroundings. Designed by Iranian architect Fariborz Sahba, the Lotus Temple’s distinctive lotus flower-inspired design features 27 marble-clad petals arranged in three concentric circles, surrounding a central prayer hall capable of accommodating up to 2,500 worshippers. Set amidst landscaped gardens and reflecting pools, the Lotus Temple exudes an aura of peace and harmony, inviting visitors to experience a moment of spiritual solace amidst the bustling city.

3 weeks agoThe structure is really gorgeous. Well maintained with lots of security and other folks to help visitors. The gardens are also very well kept, but none is allowed other than the defined walkway. Too crowded though. The road in front has became a mela. But it's not a must visit place in Delhi. It's just a beautiful building with no story. Typical Indian places & structures come with some stories going back at least 200 hundred year, if not more. (The Qutub Minar stands 1000 years and the iron pillar there is aged more 1500 years). So other than getting a selfie with a beautiful building, this has nothing.

Visiting the Bahá’í Lotus Temple in New Delhi was an unforgettable experience that perfectly balances breathtaking design with deep spiritual serenity. From the moment you approach the complex, the magnificent white marble structure—crafted beautifully to resemble a blooming lotus flower—leaves you absolutely spellbound. It is a true masterpiece of modern architecture, and the surrounding manicured green lawns and nine pristine reflection pools only add to its visual splendor. What makes this place truly special, however, is its inclusive philosophy. As a Bahá'í House of Worship, it is open to people of all religions, backgrounds, and beliefs. Stepping inside the massive central prayer hall is a transformative experience. There are no idols, pictures, or religious rituals; instead, you are greeted by an all-enveloping, powerful silence. In a bustling, chaotic city like Delhi, finding a space dedicated entirely to quiet contemplation and meditation feels like a rare gift. Sitting inside the cool dome, listening only to the sound of your own breathing, is incredibly grounding. A few practical tips for future visitors: entry is completely free, but be prepared for long security lines, especially if you visit on weekends. The closest metro stop is Kalkaji Mandir, which makes getting here very easy. You will need to remove your shoes before entering the main temple, but the venue provides a very well-managed, free shoe-deposit counter. Remember that photography is strictly prohibited inside the main hall to maintain the quiet atmosphere, though you can take as many pictures as you want in the beautiful outer gardens. Also, keep in mind that the complex is closed on Mondays. Don't forget to stop by the Information Centre near the exit to learn about the fascinating history and engineering behind the structure. It is an absolute must-visit landmark in Delhi!

2 weeks agoIt’s really peaceful inside the temple, and you can meditate there. There’s some waiting time, but the volunteers guide you well and explain the temple’s history and purpose before you enter. It can get quite crowded on weekends, so try visiting on a weekday for more walking space and a better chance to enjoy the surrounding nature.

3 weeks agoLotus Temple is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit in Delhi. Opened in 1986, it is famous for its unique lotus-shaped architecture. The best thing about this place is its message of love, peace, and respect for all religions. It reminds us that God is one and everyone should respect each other’s faith. No any entry tickets ! The prayer hall is very peaceful, where visitors can sit silently and pray or meditate. The beautiful gardens and surroundings make the visit even more enjoyable. Overall, a wonderful place for everyone, regardless of religion or belief. Highly recommended! 🪷🙏

8 months agoThe Lotus Temple in Delhi is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The architecture is stunning, shaped like a blooming lotus flower, and it looks amazing from every angle. The surroundings are very clean and well maintained with green gardens and water pools. Inside the temple, there is complete silence which makes it a perfect place for meditation and relaxation. People from all religions are welcome here, which makes the place very special. The staff and volunteers are also polite and helpful. It is one of the must-visit places in Delhi for anyone who loves architecture, spirituality, and peaceful environments.
