An offbeat trek with moderate difficulty, taking around 3.5–4 hours from the Dugad side. We looked for a guide and lunch arrangements in the village but couldn't find as they were busy, better to contact someone well in advance. However, the trail is well-marked with directional arrows at diversions, just keep a watch for arrows on rocks and trees. The route passes through dense bamboo forests with a beautiful canopy covering most of the trek. P.S. Carry sufficient water and food, as the water available in tanks at the top is not potable.

Gumtara Fort is a beautiful hidden gem in Maharashtra with amazing views and a real sense of adventure. The trek up from Dugad/Mohili village takes about 2–3 hours through dense forest and steep sections, so it’s not super easy — but that’s also what makes it rewarding. The ruins at the top are minimal — just old bastions, water cisterns, and a small temple — but the panoramic views of the surrounding hills like Tungareshwar, Kamandurg, and the nearby forests make it totally worth it. Best part was the peaceful atmosphere and greenery, especially during the cooler season. It felt like a real escape from city life. Just a few practical tips: there’s no food or water available on the trail or at the fort, so carry plenty of water (at least 2–3 L) and some snacks. And a local guide helps a lot since the trail can get confusing in places. Would highly recommend Gumtara to anyone who enjoys quiet trekking, nature, and offbeat historical spots!

Gumtara Fort is a less crowded trekking destination with deep, dark forests, breathtaking views, and vibrant natural surroundings. It offers waterfalls and a complete package of adventure. However, be cautious on your way to Gumtara Fort, as the trek is difficult for beginners due to its steep climb. Avoid going during heavy rains because the trail passes through waterfalls filled with stones, which can be hazardous. Any loose stone can trigger a landslide, making it potentially dangerous.

Gumtara Fort is situated near Bhiwandi... Easy for trekking, but might be a little bit difficult in the rainy season ... Took 2-2.5 hours to reach the top from the base village... From the top you can see the Mahuli range, Tungareshwar & Kamandurg ... Beautiful view from the top of the fort ... Enjoy 🚩🚩🚩
