Having just a day in hand at Ahmedabad, chose to take the Heritage Walk. Got little challenge to prebook the seat on previous day, as the contact number given on website didn't answer nor replied to whatapp..however could catch up late evening. I have had, so far, such walks in cities like Amritsar, Pune and Mumbai. This was just the best so far I experienced. The details of places along with the stories and narratives was just amazing...!! Taking the audience through witty question answers and then explaining few narratives was a experience...for example "Why so many forts are built in neighbouring Rajastan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra but not at all in Gujarat/Ahmedabad ....Traders Vs Kshtriya as.. Trader /Business men learned to be welcoming to all cultures and communities ..." Murtaza bhai, our Tour Guide/narrator really made it so interesting and relevant all the time during Walk... The breakfast at the end was delicious and genuine local food taste.. You should try for sure.. The package with breakfast and without was very clear and worth...both. The crowd was amazing, good number of youngsters, few teachers and few from other part of country...Indore, Pune, Hayderabad..nice combination. Should get little more time for reflections, question answers and interactive dialogue, is my feeling. Also an introduction of the visitors/batch members in the beginning would be interesting...enrich dialogue s. Overall teh best experience

So cherished that I have walked on the ancient roads of India's living heritage City. Architectural changing trends and the stories behind it are well so fabulous and beautiful. Chandrasekhar Solanki sir, grateful to have him as our local guide, one of the leading members of the organisation. Thank you

Had a wonderful "Mandir se Masjid" walk with Murtuza our host. Murtuza had a wonderful sense of humour, shared interesting stories, and made witty jokes that kept participants of different interest levels all engaged. The stories were quick paced, but at no point did it feel rushed. A great mix of history, culture, anecdotes and architecture. Don't go expecting the major Lonely Planet type tourist attractions. Apart from the Swaminarayan temple and Jama Masjid at the start and end, the walk is largely hyperlocal, covering pols in the old city. Something that is way harder to explore efficiently on your own. This worked perfectly for our group. Would love to do another walk with Murtuza in the future!

Ahmedabad Heritage Walk is a must-do to truly understand the soul of the city. Walking through the narrow lanes of Old Ahmedabad feels like stepping back in time — beautifully carved havelis, ancient temples, mosques, pols, and bustling markets all narrate centuries of history and communal harmony. The walk usually starts at the historic Swaminarayan Mandir, Kalupur, and ends at the majestic Jama Masjid, passing through heritage pols and vibrant market areas like Manek Chowk. The Indo-Islamic architecture, wooden facades, balconies, and sacred spaces make the experience deeply enriching. The guides are knowledgeable, engaging, and available in multiple languages (English, Hindi, Gujarati), adding great context to the stories and daily life of the old city. Early morning is the best time — cooler weather, calmer streets, and a more immersive experience. Despite the hustle of live markets, the walk is well organized and safe. A few areas could benefit from better cleanliness, but overall it’s an unforgettable journey through Ahmedabad’s culture, architecture, and history. Highly recommended for locals and visitors alike.
