Established in 1949, Aarey is not only a green haven but also a significant dairy development area, hosting the Aarey Milk Colony, which supplies milk to Mumbai. The area features several attractions such as the Chhota Kashmir park, Aarey Picnic Point, and the Aarey Botanical Garden, making it a popular spot for nature lovers and families. Despite its ecological importance, Aarey has faced threats from urban development projects, leading to public and environmentalist protests aimed at preserving its natural habitat. Aarey Colony remains a vital ecological and recreational space amidst the urban sprawl of Mumbai, offering a serene escape from the bustling city life while highlighting the critical need for sustainable urban planning. The best time to visit is before 10 am as the weather at this time would be not that hot. You will find different types of Berries, Herbal Plants and many Vegetables and Fruits to buy from the local residents of this place. Resting point is also there in between to have some hault if you get tired. Try avoiding late evening time as this is also a Leopards 🐆 siting zone. In between you get 1-2 small shops to buy soke snacks while reaching at the main highway connecting to Powai you will find many shops for Snacks and Fruits juice. Most importantly if coming from your own vehicle if there is any issue regarding your vehicle there is a garage also inside the forest. 2 years agoIf you want peace and would like to spend some time with nature, I recommend this place. You will get fresh air and greenery there but please avoid visiting at night, it’s not safe.

6 years agoThis is the place which is normally 4 - 5℃ lesser temperature compared to the temperature observed in all over mumbai. Nice place to visit with children to play cricket & other outdoor games at diffrent grounds available, many people coming everyday for morning & evening walk daily here, need to think of personal safety as this is an open jungle. Follow the safety measures to visit the jungle, e.g. mosquito cream & having a stik for personal safety, proper shoes for walking & running & full sleeves clothes to avoid any unwanted circumstances.

5 years agoexcellent place to enjoy nature, you can even go for cycling and morning walks or jogging, you can even reach powai easily through following the aarey forest road. the road is a little packed in evenings during peak hourss.

7 years agoIf u don't have sufficient time to go out of mumbai and searching peaceful location no need to go far long its here only at Goregaon wonderful forest location good environment and vast as well including the great dadasaheb falke filmcity, and national park(kanheri caves) If u are photography lover here is lots of for you.
