A Solo Trip to Sondai Fort: Lost, Found, and Forever Grateful On **1st February 2026**, I set out on a solo trip that I didn’t know would leave such a deep mark on me. I boarded an early morning train from **Dadar** and reached **Karjat Railway Station** around **7:00 AM**. The cool morning air and sleepy streets made everything feel calm and promising. Like every good journey should begin, mine started with food. Near the station, I enjoyed the famous local **vada pav, tea, and misal pav** — simple but powerful fuel for the adventure ahead. The **Sondai Fort trek point** is about **10–15 km** from Karjat station. Public transport was scarce, so after a little bargaining, I hired a taxi. A quick tip for fellow travelers: taxi fares here can be expensive, so negotiate wisely. After offering my prayers to **Sondai Devi**, I began my trek at **10:00 AM**. Since I was trekking alone and there weren’t many people on the trail, I moved quickly. But within just half an hour, the journey took an unexpected turn — I lost the trail. I could see trekkers heading toward the summit from a distance, yet I couldn’t find the path to reach them. For a moment, fear took over. Instead of panicking, I stopped, listened to my surroundings, and waited. Soon, I heard voices of a group passing nearby. I called out to them, and they responded. They were a group of vloggers from **Khopoli** — friendly, warm, and full of positive energy. They helped me find the correct trail and welcomed me to join them. What started as a solo trek suddenly became a shared journey. We climbed together, exchanging stories about travel, life, and dreams. Reaching the summit felt like a reward not just for the climb, but for the courage to continue despite fear. The view from the top was breathtaking — wide landscapes, open skies, and a silence that felt healing. At the summit, we clicked pictures, recorded videos, and shared moments that quickly found their way to Instagram. Then came one of the most memorable parts of the trip — **my first Pahari Maggi**. We lit a fire using stones, sticks, and dry leaves and cooked Maggi right there on the mountain. Eating warm food in the middle of nature with people I had just met felt unbelievably special. We rested for a while in a small shed, enjoying the breeze and the conversations. Around **3:00 PM**, we began our descent. Walking down, the views felt even more magical — refreshing, calming, and deeply satisfying. It was as if the mountain had cleared my mind. After completing the trek, the group offered me a ride on their motorcycles to **Sondai Dam**, adding another beautiful memory to the day. From there, they dropped me back at Karjat Railway Station. I reached the station by **5:00–5:30 PM** and boarded my train home, bidding farewell to the people who had unknowingly made my journey so meaningful. The most surprising part of the trip? My entire day — travel, food, and trek — cost me only **₹400**. It was easily the best ₹400 I have ever spent. Sondai Fort gave me more than just views. It gave me stories, strangers who became friends, and a reminder that sometimes getting lost is how you find something better. To anyone reading this — you must visit Sondai Fort at least once. Experience the views, the silence, the people, and the journey with your own eyes. Trust me… it’s worth it. Signing off, Your fellow wanderer, Shreyansh 🌄✨ — one trail, one story, one sunrise at a time.

I would say easy to medium difficulty trek. There are few local shops on the way which serve lemon juice, kokam juice etc. Carry bottles of water with yourself while trekking. Top of the mountain has a Mata Sondai temple. View from the top was amaIng

Sondai Fort, located near Panvel, is a small yet charming hill fort that offers a refreshing escape into nature. Surrounded by lush greenery, it provides stunning panoramic views of Matheran, Prabalgad, and the vast Karjat–Panvel landscape. The trek to the fort is short and relatively easy, making it ideal for beginners, solo trekkers, and weekend explorers. What makes Sondai Fort special is its peaceful environment. Unlike crowded trekking spots, this place feels calm and untouched, allowing you to truly enjoy the sounds of wind, birds, and rustling trees. The route passes through forest trails and open ridges, which are especially beautiful during the monsoon season when everything turns vibrant green. At the top, there are remnants of old fortifications, a small temple, and ample open space to relax and soak in the views. Sunrise and sunset from the fort are particularly mesmerizing, with soft colors spreading across the sky. Overall, Sondai Fort is perfect for those looking for a quiet trek, scenic views, and a break from city life without needing extensive planning or effort.
